Floodplain Maps
Is your property affected by a regulatory floodplain?
There are both federal (FEMA) and local regulated floodplains in the City of Littleton. Local floodplains are known as Flood Hazard Area Delineations (FHAD), regulated by the Mile High Flood District (MHFD).
You can determine if your property is affected by a FEMA or Local floodplain by using the City of Littleton Floodplain Map as a quick reference.
The most current FEMA Flood Insurance Studies (FIS), Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and other regulatory documents can be obtained via the FEMA Flood Map Service Center website.
The most current local floodplain regulatory documents can be obtained by visiting the Mile High Flood District (MHFD) Document Search Map Webpage.

The floodplain maps are based on the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1988. Property owners, insurance agents and mortgage providers will find the new DFIRMs to be very informative and easy to use.
In addition, you can search the FEMA map database with an address and determine whether the property is located in a floodplain.
Local floodplains are not mapped by FEMA, but are still regulated by the city the same way as a FEMA floodplain. All floodplains, both FEMA and local, can be found on the the city's Zoning Lookup Map. Floodplain areas are indicated on the Zoning Map as "FP-O.)
NOTE: With updated hydrologic and hydraulic studies, floodplain delineations may be in the process of being revised. Little's Creek floodplain is in the FEMA process for revision, expected to be adopted in early 2019. Reports about floodplains and profiles are located in the Flood Insurance Studies (FIS) below:
For questions about whether you are located within a floodplain, contact City of Littleton Public Works Department/Engineering Division at 303-795-3863 and ask for the Floodplain Administrator.
Elevation Certificates
If your property is within or near a FEMA floodplain, an Elevation Certificate might be on file with the city. An Elevation Certificate is prepared by a licensed professional surveyor and certifies whether a structure (house, store, etc) has a finished floor elevation that is within or above the floodplain. Copies of Elevation Certificates are available from the Public Works Department/Engineering Division 303-795-3863 (Ask for the floodplain administrator).
