Applying for a City Council Vacancy

Littleton residents interested in filling an upcoming vacant at-large council seat are invited to submit the following documents to City Clerk Colleen Norton at  CCCN@littletongov.org by 5 p.m. on December 6. Interviews will take place January 8 and 9 (if needed), with an official appointment late January 2025.

Minimum qualifications for interested persons

  • A US citizen;
  • At least 21 years of age;
  • A resident of the City of Littleton for at least one year;
  • Does not hold any other elective office.

Required documents to provide

1) A resume that contains the following minimum information:

  • Detailed contact information including name, address, phone numbers, and email address;
  • How long you have lived in the City of Littleton;
  • Education;
  • Employment/professional experience;
  • Any other pertinent information.

2) A letter addressed to the city council outlining:

  • Why you want to serve on the Littleton City Council;
  • Experience as a member of a board, committee, or commission charged with deliberative decision-making. Include length of time served, attendance record, leadership positions, and specific contributions;
  • Availability for attendance at regular and special city council meetings and workshops;
  • Availability and willingness to serve on city council appointed boards and commissions, liaison positions, and attend retreats, trainings, and ceremonial events (city council members generally spend 10-20 hours per week on city business).

3) Answers to the following questions:

  • What is your favorite thing about Littleton?
  • What is one thing you would like to change about the City of Littleton?
  • How do you see yourself fitting in with this current city council?

All documents must be submitted to the City Clerk, Colleen Norton at CCCN@littletongov.org by 5 p.m. on December 6.
