Due to uncertain morning road conditions, all Littleton offices, Bemis Library, Littleton Museum, and Municipal Courthouse will open at 10 AM Thursday.
Leaves in the street can create hazards for cyclists, block storm drains, and increase the risk of flooding. Placing leaves in the street is a city code violation and may lead to a fine. Take advantage of the leaf recycling event, available now through November 8, for $4 per vehicle.
Throughout 2023, the city worked on creating an Integrated Water Resources Plan (IWRP). Water is one of the most valuable resources in Colorado, and is critical that every community plan for a portfolio of water rights, how those rights would be used, and the strategies preferred to manage resource conservation. The city had never had an IWRP, making the adoption of this plan a critical step in managing one of our key community resources. As a result, the IWRP was adopted at the November 21, 2023, City Council Meeting.
Additionally, the city undertook an irrigation modernization plan that focused on managing the water uses at city facilities and greatly enhancing resource conservation across the city. We also explored supplemental projects with Denver Water and other agencies to provide new programs supporting citizen efforts to reduce water use, complete turf conversions, and assist community members in managing their water use. These programs are in development and were expected to come to fruition in the next 24 months.
Plan development included extensive public outreach and was funded through the Arapahoe County Open Space Sales and Use Tax grant program. A public meeting was held on July 20, 2023, to receive input for the Integrated Water Resources Plan. Throughout the planning process, we identified four current or potential water resources uses across the city: supply for Geneva Lake, Ketring Lake, South Platte Park, and Ridgeview Park Pond.
